This magnificient US dollar set is dedicated to two occasions, the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and the 50th anniversary of the death of President Eisenhower.
Unfortunately, he could not witness the success of the Apollo 11 mission himself because only four month before the epochal event Eisenhower had died.
The coin bears the distinctive portrait of Eisenhower on the obverse. The reverse shows the American bald eagle landing on the lunar surface.
This motif represents the official emblem of the Apollo 11 mission. Significantly, the name of the lander was "Eagle".
A cheering went around the world as from the croaking speakers came the famous words: "The eagle has landed" - mission accomplished.
This wonderful set consists of 4 silver Eisenhower Dollar coins with black und white rhodium application, gold application, color application and,
for the first time, moon dust application as well as an original "Blue Ike" token from the limited Eisenhower commemorative issue.
