In Far Eastern mythology, the dragon holds a revered status as a symbol of good fortune and robust health. As the foremost sign in the Chinese lunar calendar, the dragon is an indispensable and iconic motif in the world of coin design.
In the upcoming year 2024, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, the auspicious dragon takes center stage. In the “Édition Signature – Dragon,” artist Beni Debacker has masterfully depicted two Chinese dragons, bringing this mythical creature to life. Atelier P. De Greef has skillfully translated Debacker’s designs onto two coins, each crafted from 5 ounces of pure silver.
The use of ultra-high relief in an antique finish imparts a stunning three-dimensional effect to the dragon motifs. Additionally, various precious metals have been incorporated to provide exquisite detailing. Notably, selected parts of the frontal dragon are adorned in pure gold, adding a touch of opulence to the design. The side-facing dragon exhibits a captivating contrast: its body gleams in precious red gold, while its head, claws, and horns sparkle in the rare brilliance of white rhodium.
Limited to a strict edition of only 500 sets worldwide, the “Édition Signature – Dragon” stands as a testament to the fusion of artistic brilliance and numismatic craftsmanship. Collectors and enthusiasts alike will undoubtedly be drawn to this exclusive release, as it captures the essence of the dragon, a symbol deeply rooted in both Chinese tradition and global fascination.
